Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Alloy Wheel Repairs

    Hi All,

Has anyone had any alloys wheels repaired (re-rolled, welded etc..)? Looking for a good place in Sydney to get an alloy repaired that requires welding and re-rolling. Alternatively, if there is a location out of Sydney that does repairs I am open to shipping.

Really looking for a good job to match the existing R36 Omanyt wheels perfectly.

    Thanks for any feedback.

    Chris

        Hey All,

I spoke with the guy at Magman Workshop however he cannot do the machined polished lip that is on the R36 Omanyt wheels.

Does anyone know if there are any places around that can fix the wheel and replace the machined polished lip on the R36 Omanyt wheel?

        Any advice appreciated.

        Thanks

        Chris

I was advised by my tyre guy to go to Virgin wheel repairs for my R32 wheels.

Other places quoted me ~300 but also said they are soft wheels and advised to just buy new rims, so that is what I am doing.

i cracked and bent my 19" oz racing ultraleggera hitting a pothole. it was causing my tyre to go flat in a day, so i took it to bob jane to have a look, he showed me the 1" crack, looked like a tear in the metal actually
a guy over in brookvale repaired the crack and re-rolled the rim. nothing was visibly damaged on the face.
that was about 10k km ago, and no issues with the repair, leaks, etc.
i paid $80 i believe for the work
