Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Help with lowering TDI MKV 2.0 103kw.

    Looking to lower my TDI

Want to sit just above legal limit for VIC.
Wondering what would be the best option... was thinking Eibach Pro kit or Sportline.
    Opinions?
    Recommendations?
    Do's & Dont's?
    Pricing and Experience?

Pics of drop levels would be fantastic!

I have pedders springs in mine...pics in MK5 photography thread. I've had no problems with bottoming out and they have served me well over the last 6 years. I am looking at upgrading my original struts/shocks to Koni Yellows in the near future.

Mind you there are heaps of better options available now and if I were to get new springs again I'd be looking at H&R or Eibach.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm just not sure....

it would be ideal to get some struts to suit the springs.
it can and is usually done without swapping struts when people do ~30mm springs, but it means the struts will wear quicker

I bought Bilstien B8 strut and shocks for my mk6 Golf last year and they set me back $1030. I have Eibach pro kit springs.

Yeah they're not cheap. The Koni yellows were about $150 cheaper.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but how do you find the B8's, I have heard they have a harsher ride compared to the yellows? I'm currently trying to decide between the Bilstein B8's and Koni Yellows and after some helpful advice.

OP....consider buying from overseas for better prices. ECS Tuning and Tirerack are both very reputable and freight to Oz.

My mate has a mk6 gti on 18" and I have 18" wheels too and it does ride a lot harder than the gti stock setup. It's still comfortable to cruise the highways but if the roads start to get rough you know you have sport suspension. The handling improvement is awesome!
