Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Rota wheels

    Hi all,

    Anyone running rota wheels? Experiences?

I have just bought a MK1, and have already bought a set of wheels for it (dom's zender turbo 2's!) but I'm thinking of an alternative set ( rota Alecia 15x8 and 15x9 both et 10 offset)

Is the offset a problem being +10?

Looking forward to my first VW project!!

8 and 9 inch ET10 will poke like a mother****er. You'd need some pretty extensive guard work to make it look good

There were concenrs with poor quality manufacturing a while ago (google search is your friend) however all wheel companies can have these issues (apparently HRE had a set of wheels that cracked on the 6speed forum)

They get used a lot for autocross in the states since they are reasonably cheap.

Rota make nice wheels these days, friends that have had them have put them through hell and they have still held up through the abuse.

Theres only problem with them and that is you get no interweb points for rolling on them...
