Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

according to tirerack a 255/35/19 will fit on a rim width of 8.5 to 10.0"

have you confirmed htese tyres are ok to upsize from OEM size?

Should fit fine no problems. Have you checked the load rating?

        They're Michelin PSS. 96Y XL.

        Max load is 1555lbs.

Says the min size is 8.5". It's for Roc R. I just don't want to have to do guard work. Or even camber if I can avoid it.

as per gareth, 255/35 is going a bit over sized isnt it?

question is, why not stick with the 235/35 or even 245/35 if running on standard wheels...?

They're not going on oem wheels. Those are 8". The new ones are 8.5".

I'm going to a shop to try them on tomorrow. All feedback says they'll fit fine with no guard work required. I just dont want them hanging out alot.

              ahh fair enough.
so what about rolling diameter? any reason why not sticking to 235/35s?

Traction. Too much going to fronts. Wheel spinning a lot.
