the eibach pro-kit will achieve a lowered stance, but its heavily raked forward and tends to bob a lot.
my eibach setup was researched and put together by derek at EA and rob van oz from eibach australia. after trying the eibach pro-kit, derek wasnt happy with it, and the two of them set out to find a better spring combination. im running the kit that used to be on the EA golf gti.
im not saying the off the shelf pro-kit isnt any good, it will make the car lower, but im happy with what i have now

      Thanks for the info guys!

So what did you change with your custom Eibach setup? The spring rates AND height? Can we buy these off the shelf or were they a one off? Im ready to order 85109.140 now, so any help would be appreciated.

      thanks again

It's just springs. That's all I changed. I wouldn't say it was a one off as I'm sure u could give EA a call or email and ask about it and Derek can provide you with eibach Australia's details.
As I said, the normal eibach kit is ok, so are the hr and a host of others. But I'm happy with the set I have

I have KW V1s and absolutely love them, a little firmer than stock but not a lot. The handling has been greatly improved and the feedback you get from them is excellent. I'm about to install KW sway bars front and rear and also some Supaloy suspension arms:

APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles.

Will let everyone know how they go after install and some spirited driving

I have to say Walbjj I disagree with your opinion of coilovers, this is the 3rd set i've had on a VAG product (1 set of H&Rs, 2 sets of KWs) and I've had no clunking/rattling/noise issues whatsoever. There is also a huge advantage in having adjustable height, you can get it exactly how you want it

That's fine, it's just been my experience with the jAp car scene. Ran cusco zeros on my evo9. Very firm, and made lots of noise. Plenty of mates had coilovers as well on their cars and they carried on. Put me off coilovers

I think it depends a lot on brand. The Japanese performance stuff is pretty hardcore and doesn't place a lot of emphasis on street-ability whereas I think the Euro manufacturers take that into account a lot more.

Could be. I don't have experience with euro branded coilovers.

And also within a brand, the harshness/refinement can vary greatly if the manufacturer is trying to cover a broad price range - eg FK has cheap, harsh coilovers with cheap dampers (StreetLine) and much more expensive and more refined ones with rebound adjustable Koni dampers(KonigSport and SilverLine Plus X).

And coilovers with good dampers are almost certain to be more refined than just a spring kit as the damping will match the spring rate much better (or you get matched dampers to go with a spring kit - commonly known as a cup kit).

Curious if anyone else has gone down the VWR springs route and has any feedback re: ride v OEM and handling v OEM.

I'm keen to lower (slightly) my car and sharpen up the handling a little, but don't want to really upset the ride equation too much and don't want to end up with any rubbing etc requiring more mods.

I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to all this but have read up a heap on here and some of the WhiteJames reviews, and figure something like the KW V1 coilovers are probably overkill for what I am trying to achieve and that a spring change would be enough; the VWR claim is 20-25mm drop and no need to make any other changes to the OEM stuff which ties in with a few other posts on this thread. Most of the WhiteJames stuff appears related more to the DG springs which I understand is a slightly lesser drop.

Hi guys, I'm also considering lowering my mk6 gti and am also thinking the a spring change to the vwr's would be sufficient rather than coilovers. What I wanted to know was, will my dcc be affected in any way if I change over to these springs? Cheers.
