  • 255/50r16 on 6.5in rim

    Hi guys.

Im able to get my hands on a cheap pair of new slicks.

I was wondering if i would be able to run a 255/50 on a 6.5inch rim, on adapters.

This is only for straight lines so no conering whatsoever. Would i have any issues with this, or the wheels hitting the gaurd or coilovers?

This is on a Mk3 by the way

    Cheers.

I had that initial thought to stu.

But seems some yanks have got away with it..

      can i fit 255/50/16 on a 6.5" rim - The Chicago Garage

But to be safe i might just run some 235, ku36's on my 17's.

most 255/50s seem to only go down to a 7" wheel legally?
what brand/model tyre are you looking at?
also isnt that a bit over sized when it comes to rolling diameter for a mk3? thought for 1/4mile tyre you would want something smaller so its quicker off the line

There strictly track only setup. So legalities arent much of a concern.

Having an R32 to two wheels. I want a bit of an increase in rolling diameter to smooth out the torque so I'm not just spinning them.

          They are a Hoosier r6.

            oh i see.
well they are suggest to fit a 7-9" wheel. sure you can go outside the suggested (like most people do with stretching) but not sure what happens when going undersized... its only .5" otherwise just find some wider wheels... see a lot of jap spec 16x7s floating around

Problem then is adapters are however much. By that time I could get a pair of rpf1's for that much.

                Gr decisions.

Thats what I was thinking Dylan, surely .5" wouldn't kill me..
