  • Thanks, Slammed!

hi folks! well, for those of you who don't know me, my name's scott and i drive a 9n3 polo tdi.

i've done a couple things here and there to improve certain aspects of the car, but one thing i'd held off on for WAY too long was suspension - quite frankly, i was undecided as to whether to get a cup kit, or fixed-damping coilies, or whether or not i should try something with damping adjustment... lots of options on sites like europerformance but a) their lack of correspondence and general customer enquiry response was utterly pathetic, and b) the price might have been right, but i didnt know if Spax / Supersport / etc would be the right path to take.

but then, low and behold, Slammed Distribution have an october sale... i felt the time was right to get a cup kit with adjustable dampers. josh (golfman) asks why dont i get coilies instead, i say "no, cup kit with adjustables", he says "slammed have a sale - hit them up!"

so i did, and thanks to slammed distribution, tim from dub addiction and josh, i now have my FK konigsport coilies in, and i am a VERY happy camper! there was plenty of feedback and correspondence from james lorenz at slammed, the price was really good, and far out, the shipping time!!!! it took like... 10 days (MAX) to get here from overseas? needless to say, i was VERY happy with the level of customer service that the guys from Slammed provided me with, and given the experience i think it's safe to say that for future cars, if their brands distribute suspension for the car i may be driving then, i'll be getting it from Slammed for sure.

regarding the suspension - height adjustment is WAY too easy. i know it can be done with the wheel on, but it still only takes 10 mins per front corner to take the wheel off, wind her up / down, lock, and put the wheel back on.

the adjustable koni yellows are FCKING SICK. i'd been told by someone recently, something along the lines of "koni yellows are pointless because you can only adjust the backs with the shocks out", and that "FK's are nice if you want to go low or whatever, but for outright cornering ability NOTHING beats the brand XX / brand YY combo"..... lol orly? i guess my weitec springs / stock shock combo must have been pretty damn awesome then, haha (given my car's prior abilities on cruises).

anyway, im not too concerned about that, as im very happy with my purchase, FK make a damn fine product and the car is much, much more competent in the twisties now, it actually feels like a decent little handler...

anyway, enough yapping, pic time! please excuse the crappy iphone pics of the drop. i've gotta get an actual camera.

the good ole days, before i started fiddling with her / crashing her into stuff:

some pics of the car on Weitec "30mm lowering" springs:

    and now:

thanks again to those concerned, and if you're ever in the market for suspension, i'd highly recommend the boys at Slammed Distribution - good prices (especially when compared with distributors of other brands), great customer service, and whats more - piece of mind that you're dealing with a fellow watercooler who's on top of things, not someone from some online company overseas.

    cheers!

p.s. i know i could come down lower in the back, but im keeping the forward rake for handling reasons

        Forward rake ftw i think.
Are they 15x6 bora stockies? If so its pulling them off nicely. But im with ray, could always do with more lows and more width :p

I keep saying that you need to get uprated dampers when raising spring rates - good to hear it's all working and I'm jealous of the adjustable damping. I'd revisit your rear anti-roll bar settings and see if you can run it on a lighter setting without introducing understeer.

I don't know mate, my Polo with its significantly widened track over stock handles a HELL of a lot better than it did on the narrow track GTI wheels I was running for a while.

Time for some on track comparison/testing at the Island - we need Scotty to join us as a control subject.

                        give him time...

after DOVW he'll want some wheels...

and after the wheels, he'll want mad fitment, and then it'll get lower! hahaha

I've got FK's too (not konigsports) and i'm super happy with them. My car handles and rides really nice, and it's pretty damn low.I'd reccommend them to a friend!
