  • Coilover question mk6

hey guys, WRDUSA are having a sale on Koni coilovers

    $980 down from $1782
    (plus 150~200 in shipping)
WRD: Koni Coilover Golf / GTI / Jetta V/VI 06-up w/ independent rear suspension. Threaded adjustable fron

So far Ive heard great reviews from these in line with comfort and driveability

Im looking at getting some coilovers in the next few months, gave up the springs idea a long time ago lol

Does anyone have any recommendations? Budget is "Uni student" so keep that in mind

    thanks

    Hey mate,

I've just ordered a set of FK Streetline coilovers from ECS tuning.

They sound very promising from the reviews I've read.
Sure, they don't have adjustable damping or stainless bodies (we don't get our roads salted in winter anyway, so with a little bit of care I can't seeing this being a major issue) but I think for $550 they're definately worth checking out

      G'day Alex,

Do not forget you will have to pay import duty and GST on anything over $1000AUD value. So you may need to add 15% to that price, depending on what the total comes to.

I can do you Weitec Hicon GT coils for $1469.00 delivered. These have twin tube dampers, not monotube like the konis and are manufactured in Germany by KW.

These come with 2yrs/40,000km Australian warranty. Not to mention you can deal with someone local and have 100% local support.

Send me an email (check my sig) if you are interested or would like some more information.

      Cheers,

      -Chris.

I like the local support bit, Id hate to have to deal with the US if my car ends up on stands !
Dont know enough about the mono/twin tube to decide what is best for me at the moment, I want a comfortable ride .. ?
Will definitely keep your email handy mate, thanks

        - with customs its only if the net value of the goods exceeds $1k (without the cost of shipping), but if its over 1k then they add the shipping and charge ya !

Without going into the nitty gritty, it's the way the damper is designed. These have high and low speed bump and rebound valves. This means that they will be firm in a corner but absorb bumps better than a monotube shock with single valving.

In my opinion Weitec are the best bang-for-buck kit available. I only sell what I use myself.

If you wish to spend more, KW V1/2/3 is also an option. KW V1 Inox (Stainless) i can do for $1819.00 AU. These come with 2yrs/unlimited km warranty.

Like I said, if you're interested just shoot me an email. Happy to give you as much info as you need.

Sorry, total I meant without shipping. That was a bit ambiguous.
