Yes, the diameter would change as the tread depth decreases, but that would be the same for all tyres.

The tread depth for new tyres depends on the make and model, if Tire Rack is anything to go by.

interesting to note that the accuracy of your speedo is dependent on new tyres. the more worn the tyre the slower you will be travelling relative to the speedo reading, although only by around 2-3kph

The tyres will fit fine. A bit balloony but they'll fill the guards a fraction more & take some of the error out of your speedo. Probably a good idea to double check indicated against actual speeds with a GPS to work out what your new margin for error is.

        Nice tyres, lucky you.
Yep, 6.5 's. Should look first, open mouth much later.
Thanks for the advice, Brad. Still waiting on Tire Rack.

With all the fines for speeding etc then tyre manufacturers wouldnt want to be sued for creating a legal loophole where someone unwittingly sped because their tyre had a different measurement to specifications indicated
Difference isn't within the same mfr. It's between mfrs. Back in the day, Goodyear was one of the narrowest tyres & I know for a fact they used to upsize off the same casing (eg: a 155/78x13 was the same case as a 145/78x13).

I can't remember the exact brands but a Yokohama in the same size (on the sidewall) was a bigger diameter tyre than a Toyo.

Ordered from Tire Rack today. The surprise was the .96 slug from the Bank on transfer rate AUD to USD.
So we will see what we get.

              Just a question.

My 155 Tiguan comes with 17x7 rims and is fitted with 235 55 tyres.

If I put the rims on a Golf, can it be fitted with 225 45 17 tyres?

                Yes, it is okay to fit a 225/45 R17 tyre on a 7.0 x 17 wheel.

So: I ordered from Tire Rack last Wednesday, paid Thursday, received confirmation and a FedEX tracker link
by email Friday morning, packed and shipped Friday evening local time by the looks of it, and
watched movement as far as the Fedex depots in Indianapolis and Memphis this morning, with a due by to Brisbane this Friday, so seven days. Impressive service. Not sure I can book the car with the garage Friday, but all good.

And when I look this morning, one item is in still in Memphis, the other at Mascot after being noted as Honolulu last night.
Hopefully a tracker error and they are just updating one instead of both trackers.

This evening, everything is in Sydney, one lot must have gone into Stealth-mode. Anyway, currently, 'goods are subject to regulatory review', whatever that means. Hopefully not a new budget tax

Friday and Fed-Ex is showing the tyres still stuck in Sydney in Customs' regulatory review, so almost four days.
Did Wayne Swan say something about taxing import tyres in the Budget last Tuesday?

What was the cost of the tyres (ex shipping)? If it's more than AUD$1,000 you'll likely get slugged GST and duty. That could be your hold-up.

When did you order them? I have had tyres from them in 10 days but I wouldnt be worried even if they hadnt arrived in 2 weeks. Im still waiting on a r32 pedal set i ordered from TM tuning over 2 months ago!

Order placed 9 May, and no, not worried, the Fed-Ex tracker shows where they are.
The estimated delivery was for today, which isn't going to happen.
So only concerned about Customs and what they're doing, if anything

No, they're $109 dollar tires, as they say. Hope no one moved the goal-posts...

Nope, not gonna happen. U guys need to think about how logistics works.
Taking the absolute best case scenario, u email them now, our Saturday, their Friday. They won't respond to u for 24 hours, which at best might be Saturday for them if that sales rep works it, otherwise u will get a response on Monday afternoon, tues. then u need to confirm ur order, and possibly make bank transfer which will be Wednesday at best our time, most prob thurs. they then need to receive the funds, so their Friday. If all goes well, they might ship it that fri arvo, if it gets the flight out by the weekend then u might see it the following mon/ tues. all things running perfectly tho.

In my experience, I paid for an order on a thurs and received on the following mon. But I did all the groundwork with communication and emails way before. I believe I initiated contact on the Monday and confirmed my order and got bank details by the we'd and was ready to pay that thurs. u however haven't even worked out whether the tyres u want are even allowed to be sold outside north america
