I wouldn't encourage you to get coilovers based on what you've said. They're good if you want to really slam your car and still have the option to fine-tune the height (and dampening/rebound if you have nice enough examples). They can sometimes be a little harsh too (that's just from my experience with FK Sport plus, not too expensive a coilover but I like them); but the harshness arguement really depends on the condition of your daily route too, as well as wheel and tyre packages.
I'll be putting a whiteline swaybar in my Mk4 next weekend and don't think it'll take much longer than 1 hour. Fingers crossed.
