  • Which VW Wheels for MKV R32?

    Gday all,

I have a MKV R32 and have been thinking about getting some wheels.

Gone through some heartache passing on some good RS4 and S5 wheels due to offset and only real 19 inch VAG option is Golf R wheels.

Which look do you guys like more? Please vote via poll.

Ah crap, just realised I selected public poll and can't find a way to make it anonymous. Hope you all aren't shy!

I'll add one to the poll option three then. One original and one black so far. Cheers.

I'd get VW Helios or (as played as they are) something from the Mercedes catalogue.

Don't see the point of spending good money on decent wheels (assuming you dont buy replicas) to make it look like a mk6 R etc...

before you decide, can I ask you to consider your brakes.

The R wheels look great, but if your brakes behind them look a bit puny I think it spoils the look of the rims.

At least the original rims will hide the brakes if you think thewy are understated.

(alternatively get some nice big 6 pot brembos as well and make em look extra sexy! LOL)

I may be biased because I have them on my Black mkV GTI, but the silver R wheels look best. For some reason the black on blue doesn't look right to me. I am considering spraying mine black though. I just don't know if the black on black will look **** or not. I will have to photoshop something up to decide I guess.

Mercedes catalogue, now that's an idea! Offset may be a bit too low though?

Are the R32 brakes that much smaller than the R brakes? Brembos would be nice...but my being so anal, would need the rears done too and don't see anywhere near as many rear upgrades as compared to the fronts!?

How did you score the silver ones!? Are they 19s? Black on blue looks ok but the mrs says they change the whole look of the car and makes it look like a racer...which I don't mind...but it's her car after all......................

Unfortunately mine are 18's. I would've like 19s, but beggers can't be choosers. And it saves on tyres, which I'm not kind to. I was lucky to get them from a new r owner that upgraded their wheels. I don't know if going black on my car would be a mistake.

I'll give you another 19'' option BBS CH ...

Although if as poll ask go for black R, don't have to clean the brake dust weekly on them

Why be on an enthusiast forum and spend all that money on a CH and make it look like plenty of other modified mkv's on the internet. Half of **** all concavity on them (look at audi and BMW fitment, particularly the wide ones and thats where CH's look magic)
Not saying you are going to be totally unique, but there is a lot better wheel choices out there.
Hence I would go the Helios, not really done in Australia.

Offset on Merc wheels varies depending on which wheel, they usually have good width. Like always, throw the old and new specs into an offset calculator (google) and see how they will fit. Remember that lowering adds camber and will pull hem in more, as well as having more suited suspension for a lowered car.

The 18s still look very nice.

Yep, the brakes are definitely very dusty and black wheels would hide them. I would so love to get som Advans but they are too pricey.

don't forget to lower it a bit, no point getting nice wheels if you can see three feet of wheel gap

Well that's your personnel opinion, and yes might be a few seen on the internet but how many seen in Aust? I'm yet to come across any golf with BBS CH at any the VW meets in West Aust, or be that pass any other makes on the street with them.
Hence my decision to go with BBS (and black as sick of weekly break dust cleaning), and for the golf I think the CH is best BBS option, unless looking at the 3 peice race rims.

My other .:R is running on ATS Taurus and they were probably half the cost of the BBS and I reckon look pretty smart on Mk4 or Mk5.

Personnelly I think BBS look nicer than 19" OEM Phaeton Helios, though I will say Helios does look nice on MkV and probably one the better choices could buy from VW, although I think they are more expensive than CH's.

As for spend all that money, the BBS actually weren't that expensive I got rims wrapped with Yokahama Advan cheaper than buying just rims in Aust from tyre place I know in Europe that was even with paying the shipping and customs duty of $604

If had the money I wouldn't mind some Enkei RS05
