  • Tyre stretch - Advice

    Hey guys,

Im no tyre expert, so i theres no harm in asking for a little bit of help.

The tyres on the rims atm are 195/55/r15 with a ET30

I measured the rim, and its 8inches wide.
What would a nice stretch be 185/175 possibly?, also what is the lowest profile i can go?

    Thanks - George

where did you measure the width from? Remember it's the inside of the beads not the further most edges of the wheels.

IF it is an 8" wide wheel, a 195/50 does give a bit of stretch. (consideration must also go to ride height etc etc)

If it's a 7" (I suspect it might be) a 185/45 will look good, it'll be a nice 'straight' edge. But you'd need a 165/50 for a really stretched look.

You could also go a 185/45 on an 8" rim, although that is a fair amount of stretch and will defiantly get you a bit more attention (police wise) as it's defiantly undersized for the rim.

    Hope this helps.

Well id like to do a fairly good stretch, otherwise thered be no point in buying the tyres. (i have ok-ish tyres atm)

How do i measure the rim width then, I measured from one side of the rim to the furthest point on the other. Am i ment to measure from the inside?

          Cheers for the help Jarred

Everywhere i went today to look for lower than 50 profile tyres, i got a "no" in reply. And they all said the same, its dangerous and its bad hehe

Ill look into it a bit more

a 195/50 isnt stretched on an 8J rim

also a 185/45 on an 8J is no where near a bad of stretch compared to a 165/50 on a 7J (thats a stretch)

work out the exact width of the rim first and then we can help you pick the right tyre
