Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hey guys, haven't posted in a while but I need some help yet again
I've found a set of wheels I like on ebay, I just need to decide on a size..
One is 16x7 +38 (inner clearance 13mm LESS and outer clearance is 13mm MORE)
The other size is 16x8 +0.. (Therefore, 13mm MORE inner clearance and 63mm MORE outer clearance..)
Now I have a MK3 would the +0 be toooo much work to make them fit? because i think they would look a hundred times better but I'm feeling they're just too much.
I''m a huge fan of Hellaflush and wheel fitment so i would love something like that. by doing some simple and quick measurements it seems not to bad but my lack of experience forces me to ask Another problem is the inner clearance, I dont have a clue of how much space ive got back there so would 13mm be to much for a stock mk3?
    Cheers guys!

Put a ruler/measuring tape on the lip of your wheel pointing straight out from the side of the car, and look at 63mm and where it is in proportion to where the guards are. THAT's how much wider ****'s going to be.

16x8 ET0 will probably involve a decent amount of guard work. Not sure about MK3's specifically but an extra 63mm is quite a bit.

yeah thats what I had done and it seemed alright..
Im thinking of getting the larger wheels for the back and the smaller ones for the front.

ET0 is very hard to pull off and most of the time looks sily unless your willing to do some serious guard work and run some camber (requires camber shims out back).
Have a read through here for some ideas mate, very useful thread VWVortex.com - tire sizes and offsets..
