Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Suspension lift for a Crafter 35 (LWB High top)

First off, not sure if this should be here or in the Van section.

I've been trying to dig up some information relating to improving the suspension (mostly the springs) on our Crafter.

Ideally I'd like to lift the vehicle by about 25mm to reduct the number of occasions on which we scrape the towbar arrangement when leaving the servo etc. This would also make hitching and unhitching the trailer an easier operation.

The last concern is improved clearence on some of the less well maintained gravel roads that you sometimes come across.

From what I have been able to research it would be a custom job (could find no kits at all, which was not surprising). My concern is finding both a reputable brand and fitter to go with.

I understand the consequences of the height increase to the stability and handeling of the vehicle. As the vehicle is already 3m high another 25mm will make no difference in terms of access to car parks.

    Cheers
    Andrew
