Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 114.3 on mk2 golf

    hey there..
After you read my title i'm sure your aware that i have a mk2 golf.. As your not aware my mate has a toyota sprinter. The sprinter came with Konig Rewinds 14x7's.
Im pretty sure they are 114.3 is there any chance i can make them fit..
    cheers for the help...

I'm thinking the Konigsd may be fine to redrill to 4x100.

If not adapters are your friend.

I think they are flat backed and allow for re-drilling from the pictures I have seen. Some of the guys on here have/have had them and should be better suited to answer that.

i wouldnt even bother with a set of 14's on a mk2.... even worse they are 7 wide!! i wouldnt waist my time and especially money on something that wont even be satisfying

          just my opinion

I reckon 14" would look kinda small, not that wide either...
Would be interesting to see tho.

Couldn't find any pics of any on a Mk2. Only minilites/superlites.

                On a Mk1 tho...

                  hmm

i havent seen the wheels up close but as far i can tell off the internet the et is -9.. so they might be a little small and will poke past the guards by around 10mm..

they will poke more than tuck thats for sure! plus a 7J wide, your going to have to find tyres that would suit the wheels AND the car and with a small width like that, it wont be the ideal look for this car.... itll look like its just a standard 7" wheel with skinny tyres and "spacers" making it look like a rollerskate, plus you need adapters which will sit out an extra (minimum) 15mm!

sorry if it sounds like im putting your idea down, im not trying to, ive been there done that countless times with that exact look and from experience, you wont be satisfied 100% sure youll have the poke, but it just wont look right.

                      Watanabes or bust!

From what I remember, these Superlites - Performance Wheels are relatively cheap, and just look at the sizes they come in!
I would say it's not worth it. Besides, -9mm offset, plus 15mm MORE poke will be Mexican as hell.
You could get them re-drilled, but in my opinion they wouldn't suit MK2 anyway.
