Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

fake splits will always be fake splits......................

but if you dont care, go for it.

Just a word of warning though, do your offset research before handing out the dough. An offset of +20 is FAR too much for a Mk5

Expect them to weigh a **** load and to have a nasty finish. They dont look the best.

Go the ridgy didge BBS, you will be happier knowing you have the real deal

Look like the ones produced for esm or sportmax (both wheels seem to come from the same production facility). They are pretty popular within the bmw community where a set of RS's can sell for $2000. As far as I know they arent multipiece, just 1 piece to look like 3 piece.

                  ESM Wheels

The quality is pretty good and they arent super heavy. Give you an example, 16x8 = 7.5kg which isnt too bad. Do a search out there for esm wheels and you'll see some feedback from bmw guys. I wouldnt have a problem in buying them (actually considering a set of 16x9's for a bmw). I know a couple of people with esm-01 style wheels and they have been really happy with them, the finish is as good as anything made here anyway. Maybe speak to the seller and see if they are esm or sportmax, probably find they are one or the other
