Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

So... Adaptors... where should I be looking?

Seeing as how the car's beige, I was thinking gloss-black centers, gold-chrome plated bolts and center caps (because the caps have gold lettering on them), and polished lips (of course!)

I'll find out next weekend if they're worth it, after I've had a good look over them.

Glad you two like 'em. I'm not sure if I do haha. They should be the smallest size they came in, 15x6.5 +20.
I'll get the thinnest adaptors I can (if I do) because 4x114.3 is, as you know, a very common size, especially for older Japanese wheels.
So if I get a set of Starsharks with really low offset, i can squeeze them under the guards.

Listen to me, Getting so far ahead of myself! haha.

If i think I can clean them up to look like those without machining heaps off the lips I'll grab them.
If they are in fact 3-piece, i will for sure. Want to rebuild a set of wheels. Just to learn.

I'll see how I go. I'll test fit them if I get them and post pics.
I have to resist spending money to fit them/on other unnecessary crap until i've bought a windscreen and brakes.

6.5 et 20. is about spot on. if you put 15mm spacers on, giving et 5 you'd get about 10-15mm of poke. From the back it'll look funning having really skinny wheels so far apart (imo)

I'd look at getting the wheels filled and drilled.

                            Really? That much poke, huh?
Mmm well I'll wait and see.

yea, that's based on a 7" ET25 sitting approximately flush with the front gaurds. backs have a bit more room, and they all vary.

You could fit them if you got some stretch, camber and super thin adapters.

Not going to go out of my way for these.
                                I want them because A) They're cheap. B) They're SSR's and C) They're 3-piece (i think) and I want to rebuild a set for the experience.
