  • RS 6 style wheels....

I am thinking of getting these wheels to replace my 18" Detroits..

    They are 18 x 8...

Don't suppose i can use my current tyres.. how can i get rid of my detroits plus tyres?

How much should i be asking for? Or trade in with tyre dealers??

I'm not sure what you intend this thread to be.... is it a wheels discussion, if so it should be in the Wheels forum.
Is it a for sale? Anyway... we'll start with the wheel forum...

To me they look like shadow chrome version of the Golf R rims. Can't see why you could not keep the tyres unless the std tyre were less than say 225 wide

They're similar. The R's outter spokes go to the hub and the centre spoke goes to the bolt, whereas the RS6 wheels are opposite (outter spokes to bolt, centre spoke to hub).

225 tyres shoudl fit fine on a 8" wide wheel.
The thing you need to ensure is that the hole pattern is 5x112 and that the offset is correct. I'm not 100% sure of what the offset should be for an 8" wide wheel on the GTI (it would be close to 50 though I'd say)

The offset is to ensure that the wheels sitting correctly inside the guards and not outside, or too far inside. Wikipedia has a good explanation. And no, the front and rear wheels on the Golf are identical.
