  • Best place in Victoria for rims for the Golf VI?

Hey, just wondering if anyone has some recommendations for where the best place is to get wheels for the Golf VI? (price, range and staff know-know).

Also, are there any special requirements when choosing rims for a Golf with tyre pressure sensors?

    Cheers

Make sure you get wheels that are the correct bolt pattern (5x112), and offset to match your car.
Also make sure you look for the more euro specific wheels rather than teh generci re-drilled ones.

Your local Volkswagen Spare Parts desk.

Forget looking locally, unless you're after a Falcondore rim, check out the forums and see what people have ordered in, buying locally you'll get some redrilled cheap incorrect offset rims from places like Tempe Tyres or you'll pay over the odds on rims you can source much cheaper online.

I guess you haven't bothered to read your manual?

Just got some tires from the boys at Tyre Power in Hawthorn on Burwood Rd.

They have the best range I have seen in a long time!! Not your heavy cheap rubbish wheels but a great range including Volk, Advan, OZ, Enkei and also more semi slick and high performance street tires than you could poke a stick at.

Try the mag wheel centre. Lots of BBS goodness.

I'd second the Mag Wheel Centre. Peter machined hubcentric rings for me... And yes he knows his stuff.

WhiteJames once said that they weigh 10.5 kilograms but given the weight of other wheels I would have thought they would weigh more considering they are almost solid blocks of alloy!

Cheap Enkei and Oz rims?? If you find where please tell us all bro... your are best to scour all the forum classifieds if you want to save a buck.

According to wheel wieghts, the stock GTI wheels weigh a whopping 12.7kg
Hawthorn Tyre Power can get a set of OZ Racing Ultraleggera in 18x8 for under $2,200 based on the current exchange rate. But I personally don't like their ethics (or lack of) and will not return. Alternatively, you can try your luck at On The Run Motorsports. I heard that their prices are quite reasonable. What is your definition of cheap? Expect to pay $2k upwards for a decent set of 18" wheels

Try tirerack.com as the dollar is quite good now and you can get some nice looking light weight wheels in 18" from there.
