  • 17x8 on a mrk3?

Can i fit a 17x8" on the back of my VR6?
I'd like to fit some rims soon, and love the idea of wider rims on the back, along with wider tyres

    I know a 17x7 is the normal size for these with a 205 or 215 40 17 tyre
I'd like to use a 235 or 245 35 17 on the rear on the 8" rim. Would this fit? Can i go wider?

can i fit an 8" rim on the front?

I dont want to modify the panels.

You can fit 9" wide tyres just get the tyres stretched and also stiffen up the springs.

      Science,

Talk to Athid at work. he can roll your guards so there is more space and no rubbing.

it all depends on the offset and tyre size really.
im running 16x7.5 ET35 with no rubbing. im running a small spacer on the rear but thats only cos im running coilovers. with normal springs there would have been plenty clearance.
im also running a 205. id say if u go up to a 215 its gonna be really really close.
A 205 tyre on an 8" rim will be a lil bit of a stretch. so some places may not want to fit them for u either.

A 205 on a 7" would give you some stretch on mine there rubbing and they are a 215 should have got the 205, but didn't have them.

yeah some of the sizes are rare. I know when i got my 205/45/16 michelins they were the last set that the wholesaler had according to my friend. So he said that i wasnt allowed to damage one for a few weeks until their new shipments come in.

A couple of tyre places tell me i could probly fit 235/40 r 17 on the rear with a 3 peice rim, custom made, and a little rolling of the gaurds. If all else fails, a set of after market flairs will be the go.

a 235/40 R17 will be illegal wont it? it'd have a larger rolling diameter? my 225/35 R17 is perfect to go wider you'd need lower profile which you wont find or will be $$$$$$$$$$ . . .

these tyre places are all idiots, dont trust them!! i had 17x7 on my vr with 215/40 tsw rims.it was very touchy,i had to adjust the coilovers exactly so i wouldnt get a scrubbing, and thats after agressive rolling.
16x9 will fit no problems.the germans all fit that size to get that fat look.17's are a problem.
UNLESS you get the whole guards rolled and beated to get that really fat look!!!!!!!!then stick 17x10 hehehehe

I'm scrubbing on 215/45/16, for some reason then again my back suspension is a tad soft.

all tyre monkeys seem to think all cars are commonhores or that other tank.
coilovers are a must when doing this mod, look at mk3vr6 with his scrubbing hassles!!!
