  • KW Variant 2 Coils

Searched the forum but couldn't find anything.

I want to raise the car 15mm and soften the suspension a tad.

A friend told me that if I raised it, the springs will be stiffer and they are now and the ride quality will be harder. Can anyone qualify this for me?

So you are running KW's currently?

No, the suspension will not be stiffer if you raise it. It will be the same.

Depending on how low you have it, it may be hitting the bump stops and if that's the case, the suspension will feel softer if you raise it.

Negative on that. If you think about it, springs are only compressed by the weight it supports. Raising the car higher doesn't change the weight of the car so it should still feel the same. You'll have more suspension travel than before though, so if anything your ride will be more comfortable.

Edit: Preeny beat me to it

Ahhh excellent. Thanks for that guys.

Now I just need to find someone with a C spanner that will work on the KW coils and is in Perth.

Didn't you get C spanners with your coilovers?

You want to raise the suspension to make it softer or you want to raise it AND make it softer?

Unless your shocks / springs are dying, your KW's are possibly too sporty for you.

Changing the height on the rear will make no difference to comfort. changing the front can improve comfort / handling if the control arms are too low at the hub.

Make sure you clean the thread area before you move the height positioning ring.

Go and see Wheels world / tyres and more in Osborne park.
John and Bob installed and setup my kw v3 based on what I wanted.
