They were over $500 each RRP here when i checked a while ago.
if you split the order, you pay a lot more in shipping, so might not save you that much overall.

On top of that, customs electronically track orders and are well aware of order splitters, so if you do, make sure you are cleverer than them

It's fine and a lot of people have done it, but not hard to order on different days or to different addresses.

Didn't know cleverer was a word

well, i knew it was a word, so clearly, I'm cleverer than you

there is also cleverest, cleverly and cleverness.

not words you would use to describe yourself eg G-rig

          Well there you go.

It's not incorrect but doesn't sound as nice nor is common; and would be better off saying "more clever".

There are also better words that can be used instead .

Well still waiting for a quote so wont be splitting the shipping just yet (another member gave me an idea on prices - it still costs less to ship two obviously but it's still more than half the cost).

The other options is wait for Goodyear to have their buy 3 and get 1 free again (but would still be more expensive ~$1600).

Yah. There are lots of tyres that are much better value and yet still provide excellent grip.

They are quite expensive, what else would you consider? Something like the Bridgestone Potenza RE 050A?

                    I woudln't mind the AD08's, but the load rating isn't enough (for 18" I need 92Y - they are 88W).

The RE-050As get a really good writeup on another forum I frequent. It depends how much "performance" you're really after - Kumho KU31s are an absolute steal at less than $200 a corner in sensible sizes, Bridgestone RE-001s are quite affrodable as well (not as good as the RE-050As, but are quieter and will last longer).

The latest Pirelli tyres are apparently getting back to being seriously competitive again apaprently, which is also good to hear.

i just love my eagle F1's and on one of our cruises thru mac pass going down, in the wet, the grip was phenomenal.
and if the asymmetrics are better?!

will proabably need tyres in 6 months, so will hunt around then.

i have a copy of the magazine if anyone wants to pm me.

one thing the write-ups tend not to assess is wear rate.

Ive got the Asymmetrics on my GT-P and I expect to get around 28k out of them which is pretty good for a 500hp RWD, and on tyres tjhat are soft enough to be so good in the wet.

be good to see what the comparative lives of the various tyres are

yeah, true. but its probably a little too challenging to reproduce accurate real world results.

but if they need someone to do burnouts, I have my hand up!

I'm assuming you haven't done many K's on the MAs yet, otherwise you may be telling a different story. I replaced the original Bridgestones on my SS Commodore with MAs at 35K and like you, thought I had the bargin of the year - super grip wet and dry and outshone the Brigis by a mile at half the cost. However.... as the Ks rolled up, so did the noise from the tyres. After about 20K it was unbearable and all my passengers would comment that I had tractor tyres on the car. I ended up replacing them with a considerable amount of life in them just to get a quiet ride again, what bliss it was.
I hope you have better luck on the Mk3, as has been said, different tyres react differently on different cars.
