Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

to adjust your height measure from your centre cap to the guard. it will drop down over the next 1-3 months when it settles in anyhow and you may have a raise or adjust it again accordingly.
Im not worried about the wheel flexing into the strut. i get that much. More where the height of the nut is on the thread.

Ill give it a go anyways, thanks for the help guys. I'm just freaking... Sorry

I do accept the answer. Sorry, was having a stressful few days at work etc.

I get it wont hit the strut. I was more worried when the nut is wound down would it hit the tyre, no point in putting the coils in if i cant wind down past a certain point. But everyone else seems to have there nut above the tyre, so it clears it up. Thanks

Have had the coils in, and left the fronts wound up so it was almost stock height as i don't have a new sway bar yet. Only thing is, something was rubbing/grinding turning, not very loud as it can barely be heard over the engine, but from inside the car its not a pretty noise. Its fine in a straight line, over bumps, and hard accelerating and braking, but no matter how careful and slow i turn i get this grinding noise. Tyres/rims aren't rubbing on anything as far as i can tell.
Any ideas? I've currently put the stock fronts back so i cant check anything sorry, will drop the coilovers back in on the weekend to have another look if i get the chance.

          Thanks in advance.

put your stock wheels back on and see if you hear the noise.. if you do could be a number of things, bearings, discs are sometimes a bit squeally maybe ur over hearing them and being paranoid? or bad installation maybe?
            What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

Ok ill try the stock wheels also, the new suspension shouldnt effect the discs etc though should it? the noise has gone now the stock front suspension is back in. Wasn't me being paranoid as i stuck the gf in the car to have a listen and she could hear it also haha.

Could be bad installation, but have checked with another hottuning owner in his MK4 and we seem to have done it them same? Ill try and stick some pics up tonight

Here is a pic of what order i put things in.

Part A is the 'top hat' of the coilovers, then part 'b' and part 'c' some what how it is on the stock ones. Other then that where else could you go wrong?
