Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • A8s and coilovers = mess?

Can anyone with Tempe Audi A8 reps confirm the offset?
Just looking at mine and they are a fair bit dirty but they look like ET45?

If so i fear my coil overs arn't going to fit
can anyone please confirm the lowest offset with coilovers and 8" wide wheels possible?

    Thanks in advance.

easily under 35. if anything your offset will mean the wheels will be closer to touching the strut than the guard. they're probably 35 offset anyway.

yeah they are already so close to my stock struts, worried that the height adjustable nut will be right in line with the tyres and hit them, the current strut cup sits just above the wheel so is fine.

If the offset is 35 i should be fine after looking at intensem1's mk4, fingers crossed for 35! thanks guys.

Wheels look like 45ET from further study of another wheel.
So you don't think the height adjustable bit will come down near the tyre?

            Thanks again

Where was your height adjusting nut in relation to your tyres? above, inline with or below?

It can do depending on where its wound up/down too though wouldn't it...?

I'm most likely going to put them in (just for a look) on the weekend, and if they work ill order the bits and pieces to get it to work, looking at getting dean at volkspower to put it them in (just don't fully trust me and my dad doing something like this haha)

So ill take lots of pics if it happens.

actually it is a possibility that it'd hit.

if you cant get on a ramp, park half on curb and half on road and go underneath and have a look.

at least then you will have peace of mind as some a/market wheels can rub yes. not all but some.

unless they're not specifically for your car, its not possible that the perch will ever get down as low as the tyre.

Here's some rough pics of current i took a few days ago, As you can see, close..., cant even fit my small fingers between.

I just don't see the base being long enough... How many threads would most people have theirs from the bottom? was reading figures of 20-25 threads left on vortex the other day..?

                              dylan,

stop worrying dude, mines that close as well if not closer. you have some space, the wheel doesnt flex into the strut! if your paranoid grab some 5mm spacers but i dont see an issue personally.

to adjust your height measure from your centre cap to the guard. it will drop down over the next 1-3 months when it settles in anyhow and you may have a raise or adjust it again accordingly.
