Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • online tyres? or can you help me source an odd size?

rediculous request that has a lot of my local tyre shops scratching they're heads. Well except for one that wants to charge me $145ea!

The size is 155/55 R14 haha, ask no questions, all you need to know is that i have a 6" wide rim and i want stretch, haha, obviously 6" is quite thin so i'm hunting for the thinnest 14" tyre available!

Please don't just go to the tyre manufacturers websites because yes they list them and no no one can get them . . .

Many thanks in advance!!! . . . Alex

yeh, that 145 was for te teo's, however i'd rather not pay $600 on tyres for my runaround I may have to go up to the 165/60

i've tried them all without luck, the rep for nankang is looking into it as we speak i'd like the nankangs because they have quite an aggressive tread pattern (directional) which is odd for such a whimpy tire

If someone knew how to search/read the japan auction websites it'd be cool

Maybe email the distributors and they can advise if they bring them in, then offer you a retailer?

I got my 165's from taleb tyres, a sponsor on JDMST forums. They were considerably cheaper than what i was getting quoted in tyre stores even though they needed to be delivered. At least that site is good for something!

maybe, if I get desperate, I already have the Nankang rep looking into it for me.

All good though if I go up a size to the 165's i'll get them through a local shop that I deal with a lot, they look after me well enough
