  • Bloody handbrake mk1

I know this post doesnt really fit in here but oh well.....

Had the friggin car for one day and tried to install my own sunroof by rippin the crap out of the hand brake, breaking the left cable, the mechanism inside has flipped over...... now.... no hand break. What a knob jocky!!!!
Is it common for the hand brakes to be so fragile? Where do i get a hand brake cable from and are they easy to fit???

    cheers guys

Easy to replace, but it does involve pulling the brake drum off that side.

Whereabouts are you in Melbourne? Most of the VW specialists should have, or be able to get them.

Bit of grease on the cable every 30 years or so helps too.
