  • HELP with wheel offset??

I know wabit has posted an offset calculator etc, but I still need some help.

    MK1 CAB (1993)

    Has std 14 inch wheels, 185 / 60/ 14

    Wanted to go to a 15 inch wheel with a 195 / 50 /15 or 195/45/15 tyre.

Car has been lowered, I dunno 60mm , pretty low.

When purchasing new wheels what offset should I go for?

I know std is 38, however as wheel is getting bigger and car is low, need some advice so tyre won't rub...

    Please help me..

if you have coilsovers (i'm pretty sure you do)

I'm assuming since you're going for a 195/50 you're getting a 15x7 wheel. The 195 will stretch over the edge of the rim. And assuming you're running about -1 degree camber, you'll need offset of around ET30 or lower. ET35 would most probably have the tyre rub on the coilover spring, given -1 deg camber. a skinner tyre would allow you to run a higher offset (say a 185/45.)

    ET approx 40 for a 6". wheel with 195.

Thanks Jarrod, I am running coils, I cannot recall what the tyre shop set the camber to.

So presuming all of the above, what offset do you think I could safely go to without rubbing on the arches9If 35 is max before htting the coils) ?

I could always lift her a little if needed.

I thought I would be going for a 15x6 for that tyre size ??

well an ET25 on 15x7 will sit flush with the front gaurds on a standard mk 1. I don't know about clipper kits though. With a 195/50 you would need to roll the lips on the standard gaurds, or raise it up a bit. I'm not sure how the clipper kit will affect it though.

If you're getting a 15x6, I'd defiantly get a smaller tyre, otherwise it'll look balloon. 185, or even 165 if you want some stretch. these aren't cheap sizes though, cause they're odd sizes. 185 is a standard size on a 14x6, so I assume it'd be the same for a 15x6

BTW: it's spelt Jarred. with an 'e' not an 'o'. Please get it correct next time
