  • Koni Vs Bilstein

I am thinking of treating my Bora to a new set of shocks and I am looking for help from the forum....

Has anybody had mixed / awesome performance from either Koni yellow or Bilstein struts? I have found comparable pricing,so it is down to recommendations.

Also, for the Mk4'ers - what are the common frontend bushes that need replacing, as I am starting to her some odd noises when executing turns ( ie into sidestreets or my driveway) and especially when turning right.

    Merry Christmas to all

Konis have a lifetime warranty so if they do start breaking down, you can have them rebuilt for no cost (besides the shipping and such). I don't know about the Bora 4Mo but some Koni Yellows have notches for the spring perch so you can lower/raise as you please (very limited though) and has in-car dampening adjustment. I don't know much about the Bilsteins though.

        I think I'd go the Koni's too. I'm riding on Koni's and I like it, that's why

My experience with both brand's are only with mk1's & I've found it pretty much 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

I didn't have any problems with either of the brand's, but I liked the Koni's cause they had adjustable rear spring perch's along with rebound adjustment.(not coilover's either!)

Either way I don't think you can loose with either brand.

What's the warranty like on the Bilstein's by the way?

            Are Koni Yellows adjustable?

From my experience with Subarus, the Bilstein have a harsher initial bump absorption & suffer from stiction. They aren't adjustable either.

The konis have a better low speed ride & are adjustable (the ones I've dealt with), so you can tune the ride.

So it comes down to personal preference, do you want a smooth low speed ride or a bit jiggly? Living in Sydney & having wife/kids in the car I'd prefer smooth.
