  • Suspension for the Polo

Hey all its been a while any way lookig into new suspension for the Polo.
To put it simply it feels slopy compared to my old MK4 Golf which Andrew set up suspension wise with: Koni shock, Eibach springs and a whitline RSB it was wikkid to drive loved the feeling.
Looking at going a step further with the Polo tho due to the fact that once i get my ass into gear and get APR Map ill be running 150kw so need something that gets the power to the ground. I have found 2 options at the moment the KW veriant 3 coilover made by there race dept, or a PSS9 Bilstien coilover both are around the same price. What do you guys think ??? any info at all would be sweet cheers Rob

Bilstein are not complete 3 way adjustable . The rebound and compression are adjusted together . KW is adjusted seperate . Also KW is stainless steel where Im pretty sure bilstein is galvanised .

What about strut braces is there anything available for the Polo gti. I saw a Seat front strut brace put on a diesel 9n polo overseas http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?p=1234971not sure how it worked. What about front and rear sway bars????
Sorry PoloGTi if i have hijacked your thread ill make a new one if you like just thought i would keep it all under suspension.

Well i got a message from the guy in the link i posted abouve about the strut brace:-
my strut brace is off the 6L Seat Ibiza. The part number is 6L0 071 710. I ordered it from a Seat dealer here but as far as I know you don't get Seat's there do you? One warning about the brace though, it fits my diesel fine but the position of the ECU on FSi engines prevents the brace to be fitted. I don't know the layout of the 1.8T engine bay so I cannot comment on the possibility of a problem. Sorry I cannot be any more help, but I would love to see your GTi when you get it
Now my question is, where is the ecu in the polo? My background is from doing up corolla's (dont laugh) and there ecu is inside on transmission tunnel.
You people with gti whats your thoughts? Is he right?

I've heard good things about both, but more good about KW.

Its also a bit cheaper, more adjustable and SS.

Are you going to be tracking the car often? You might find that such an advanced coilover will be wasted if your not on the track at least once a month. Stage 2 could suffice for the occasional sprint.

Yes. It would be very easy to make the Polo too stiff and uncomfortable for around the roads. Careful Rob!

Hang about for another month or 2 whiteline is about to relase a sway bar package of the polo. A mate in SYD has a polo which whiteline are doing R&D on and he just had a test font and rear sway bar fitted and says it is so much better turns in alot better. Hope to have some spy pics soon as soon as i get them ill post. His car already has a set of KW v3 coils and a GIAC chip.
They are also looking into rear shims, strut tower braces and springs i balive.

Would be very interested in the front strut brace. I know it used to make a big difference on the old corolla's from my last forum. Will be interesting to see what it would do to the polo. Is whiteline doing a suspension kit as well.

Strut brace may make a littel diferance but not sure a huge diferance??? will be be good to see tho.
Not sure if u would uprate the front sway bar alone i know this may course more under steer and if u go the rear alone u may get lift off over steer. Front and rear would be best to keep the car balanced. Suspension kit Not sure i would think so. sorry lol i am confused its late
