Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    thanks

Always brush and detergent. Swap the brake pads for ceramic brake pads and you can throw away brush.

Dedicated wheel sponge & carwash detergent using 2 bucket method.

Prevention better than cure, so fit low dust brake pads (I've got Wagner pads on my rear brakes and they are 90% better than the OEM).

Claybar and wax / seal the rims and you're set.

I used the Meguiar's spray bottle wheel cleaner on my factory 16s, worked amazingly well for the hardened dust. It's some kind of acid - you need to keep it away from the calipers.

I'm sticking with the OEM pads. They put out a lot of dust but they never squeal and I think they're pretty easy on the rotors.

You'll go through a set of rotors to a set of OEM pads. It's not the pads. it's the soft rotors.
