Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • dynamat question

I've recently upgraded my speakers with kicker components through a arc audio 300.4 with an arc audio 12" and db drive monoblock 1750.1. Bit of a mix of brands but how it worked out buying sale items etc

Sounds awesome, massive step up from the factory sound I had in my 2010 tiguan 147tsi however I've now caught the audio bug so not satisfied I'm think of dynamat and an android audio head unit, something like pioneer/kenwood etc that will give proper rca outputs to the amp.

First order of business is dynamat as it's going to be the cheaper project of the 2 (gold coast sounds has quoted around $1400 to purchase and install a decent head unit with canbus, rvc, steering wheel and amp cable runs to the boot.

My question, I am thinking of just doing the doors for the components and the hatch and under the boot carpet for the sub in dynamat. If anyone has had this done recently could you give an idea of what an installer would charge? Also am I going to notice much of a difference with just the areas I've mentioned or do I need to do the whole car?

I'm thinking of just the doors and boot as thats where the speaker are, not too worried about road noise as is a quiet car anyway.

    thanks guys
Working...
