Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Golf MK7 MIB2 POI Collection Incl Known Police Enforcement Zones

So you would like a Australia Wide MK7 MIB2 POI Collection Incl Known Police Enforcement Zones?
Well here we go, this is further to this I have complied my most used POI's these include:

    SAFETY CAMERAS
    BP
    Caltex Woolworths
    7 Eleven
    Fixed Speed Cameras
    McDonalds
    Shell
    Red Light Cameras
    Mobile Speed Cameras

Also includes Trapster data for Known Police Enforcement Zones in Australia
However these are from September 2013 but still very valid!!
All other categories are updated to the latest version as on poidb.com

This is already converted to be copied over to a SD Card and imported, please note this will wipe all current POI's you have loaded so if you want the raw data in .KML files to compile yourself - PM me & make a donation.

    POI_BY_TUZII.zip - Google Drive - Google Drive
    Dropbox - POI_BY_TUZII.zip - Dropbox

Use these files at your own risk as I accept no responsibility for any missed cameras etc.
This has been tested on a MY 16 MK7 R, with 6.5" MIB 2 with version 0420 Maps, it should work with all Map versions

    Install instructions:

Step 1: Extract the ZIP file to your SD Card - It must be extracted to the ROOT of the SDCard
Step 2: Insert the SDCard into SD Slot 2 (in the glove box of your car)
Step 3: Press the NAV button on your MIB II
Step 4: Press Setup --> Manage Memory --> Update My POI's --> Update --> Select SD Card 2

    Enjoy

The tone is built into the zip file. Its selected during the creation process. I am not aware of anyway to individually disable it for each poi except during the creation process. This doesn't mean that there isn't one though.

EDIT: Here is a link on how to do it, it includes a link so you can choose your own poi's and make your own files. Its extremely easy. You can add mulitple POI files into the creation process.

Ok thanks for that, sorry to say but for me having that tone go off all the time which slightly turns down music volume each time is enough to stop me using these poi's, how do I remove them and go back to factory settings. Thanks.

I followed the instructions and successfully created a Personal POI file for the MIB 2.

POIdb.com seems to be updated fairly often, its a fairly straightforward process to create a custom file with the POI groups you are interested in.

The above link has an excellent how to...

Can you change the distance from the POI to make the chime sound ?

i.e 50 meters from POI, 100 meters from POI ?

                  No you can't.
I find I get a tone 25m from the actual location so that is good enough for me.
