  • Installing and wiring new steering wheel to mk4 4motion Bora

    Hi guys,

My steering wheel is getting a bit ragged and i was thinking about getting a new one.

I was wondering if its possible to wire a mk6/7 golf steering wheel into a bora and hook up the volume controls etc to a custom head unit. I'd also like to wire in a bluetooth handsfree setup at the same time. Has anyone done this before? my bora is a 2002 model and i'd be looking at getting a 2012 or later steering wheel. Not sure on compatibility or how hard of a job this is.

    thanks in advance

The buttons go through the Steering Wheel Electrics module, before it gets anywhere near the headunit.

It'd be a job and a half, that's for sure.

Yeah of course! I'm still not 100% on keeping current head unit might be upgrading soon so will have to find one that is compatible and easy to work with and then think about steering wheels!

Yeah but if it works it will be worth it!

Dont think that will work...mk4 is to old for mk5/6 technology.

Ahhh okay. Thats a shame. Will just have to instal a stand alone head unit bluetooth setup i guess with a new steering wheel.
