Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Modify Microphone for Chinese copy of RNS510

    Hey guys,

Ive got one of the those chinese copies of the RNS510 in my skoda and as many people know, the inbuilt microphone is crap. I found this thread online where this guy opened up his Eonon unit and replaced the inbuilt mic for an external and apparently worked a treat.

Has anyone thought of doing something like this..? I would like to do this myself, buy dont really have the know how or the tools.

Just wondering whether anyone could do this themselves, or knows of an electrical repair shop in Melbourne that could handle it..?

    Cheers,

    Daniel

FYI, ended up taking it to a car stereo joint and they opened it up and hard wired a good quality microphone... Cost me $80..

I got it back home, installed it and it works excellent...

    Definitely would recommend...
