I have a 2010 Jetta with a RCD 310 stereo, and would like advice on what options I have to upgrade.

I'm pretty sure you can get a cheap bluetooth module that will give you calls and media streaming with you existing head unit, and i think your unit is compatible with the MDI interface for playing from external sources like usb & aux. have a poke round this forum for more info as i think there's a sticky somewhere about

From my recent experience upgrading my Tiguan multimedia system, you have a lot options, both OEM and aftermarket.

The OEM stuff is pretty modular, so you could just add to your RCD-310 (things such as media device interface (MDI) to attach an iPod, iPhone or USB connected media players, and various bluetooth modules to add phone and possibly bluetooth media functions). As mentioned by vdubmotorworx above, you could also upgrade the head unit to an RCD-510, which will give you a bigger colour screen, SD card and six-CD capabilities, or the RNS-510, which will also give you a bigger colour screen and SD card capabilities, as well as SatNav and a hard drive. The MDI and bluetooth can be added to these upgraded head until also. The OEM options will also add extra pages to the multi function display (MFD).

The aftermarket world is full of many options, with Android Auto and CarPlay devices most exciting in my opinion.

The options are almost endless, so it might be helpful letting us know what extra functions you are wanting and what kind of budget you're considering.
