  • Rcd310 in multivan - no radio reception

I've just bought a 2011 multivan with the 310 radio and I switch to FM or AM and it doesn't lock on to any station.

I've been trying to do a bit of research and I stumbled across a self test (hold menu whist on radio setting for 20 seconds)

This comes up with Ant1-off and Ant2-off. This is just a test menu and I can't switch them on.

Is there anywhere in the radio that this can be turned on or is there any antenna fuse I should be checking as I know these use inline amplifiers/boosters. Or does it have to be done with VCDS?

    I'm lost

I have this exact same problem in my MY 2011 Multivan T5.2. VCDS shows an error of "antenna not connected" for both antennas. This is how I bought the van used.

I suspect the problem is the connection to the FM antennas (which is actually located in side mirrors)

I will check the connections behind the radio and inside the door panels and report back.

More details on the antenna locations here:

Just an update on this - I had the same symptoms as described in OP - "Ant 1 OFF, Ant 2 OFF" and no radio reception. Turns out the dual-FAKRA antenna connector behind the radio had come undone. Easy to fix: unclip trim, undo six screws, slide radio out, click cable back on, refit, done. Luckily I didn't have to go chase the antenna connections through the door / side mirror

Pretty common for people to smash the mirrors off these, and then do a half-hearted repair not realising the antannae have been damaged.

check the aerial is actually plugged into the radio.

Have many many bretheren customers in multivans and ALL there vehicle have aerials disconnected.

          Failing that, what Umai stated

Ah that's good to know I'm not the only one! Can't believe the previous owner had it for 4 years and never sorted it out.

They would've had them disconnected when they bought it.

Back in the days when the radio units weren't so integrated into everything else, we'd have to remove them completely, and come up with some sort of panel to cover off the large hole in the dash.

Ah is this something to do with 'the Brethren' ... who aren't allowed radio ... I read on here this particular group are fond of the Multivans for people movers.

So yeah FM antenna probably just disconnected behind radio. Takes 5 mins DIY to connect it back up yourself. Cheers
