  • Starting Custom Install: MK4 Golf

Well I have had this Alpine gear laying around for a long time I have 2 Type X 12inch subs, 2 alpine V12 amps Which is only half the power the subs need but I rang alpine and they said its "ok" not the best, but "ok" because underpowering subs is not cool anyways i also have alpine V12 2 channel as well . Anyways i decided to finally start to put it in my golf.

I just have very basic frame up so far.

Well heres what i have so far, sorry about the big pictures. i dont know how to make them smaller on my Imac yet

No boot space but who cares

    What do you think

Looks good dude. No doubt you will give the subs 500WRMS each from the V12's. I wouldn't worry to much about what Alpine says, those Type X don't get loud even with power, they are all about SQ. Just be careful not to push the amps to hard, you may burn the coils if you clip it to much...

Looking like a fully sik install!

Very nice looking install, but if you want to maintain boot space and dont care much for giving up your spare wheel you can easily fit every thing in.

Your spare wheel well is around 4ish cubic feet. And seeying the Type X only require 1.1 Cubic feet each, you can easily fit both subs and all the amps in the spare wheel well, and still have a useable boot.

that is what i'm going to do as soon as i get the chance to do so.

I love it how defensive people get over Alpine. I am sorry but for a 1kw sub that is usually feed that from a PDX or V12, no matter ported or sealed, they are not a loud sub. About 90% of the people I have spoken to regret going from 2x Type-R's to a Type X for SPL.

That VE rattle because it is poorly put together, any half decent 1kw powered sub should be able to cause some rattles. They are an SQ sub, like the Boston G5, Hertz Mille etc, they will play 30Hz all day everyday and rip out a kidney, but will not set any records for SPL. Ever thought why the boot is flexing? I can get my Oz ME with only 600WRMS in a sealed box to flex mine.

Do it! Although how that install is looking, the work so far is extrodinary. Doesn't need to be as hardcore as that but you only learn by practice..
