  • What gauge cable for air horns?

    Hey Guys,
Hooking up some air horns and I have some 12 awg cable for the load bearing side of the relay (power out and in (with an inline 30amp fuse) and earth from the compressor) will this be heavy duty enough?

Also, I'll be using a negative trigger switch so I'll only need very light cable for this as it doesn't carry much load does it? 16-18 awg or similar?

    Cheers
    Simon

They typically draw around 20A, so you should be OK.

Anything thicker than a spiderweb will run the relay.

You are running the horns directly from the battery, of course?

Cheers, I was hoping 12 awg would be okay as I can only get 8 awg apart from that and it's way too thick. Yes running direct from battery.

Thanks for your help much appreciated
