  • Mk4 gti window problems

My rear passenger side window doesn't work, I suspected the window motor and so bought a new one but no fix.
When I push the switch to go up or down there is a ticking sound in the window motor but it doesn't turn. It's obviously getting power, but beyond that I've got no idea what's happening?

Earth wire broken in the door loom to the B pillar inside the rubber boot. Seen it before where the earth is 50% broken so not enough to operate the window but enough to make it click. Make sure yor earth wire is good......VDUB...

Checked that wire and earth is fine all the way to the lug on the b pillar, could it be an earth problem elsewhere?

Possible.. get your multimeter on the main power and earth of the motor. Dont use the body as a earth. If you get less than the voltage that you read across your battery then yes you have a poor earth.

Have you tried the motor connected to the wiring but not fitted into the door/reg?
