  • ZENEC NC2011D - roundabouts and MFD display

Hi all – I’ve recently had a ZENEC NC2011D headunit/satnav installed in my Mk6 GTI. It's early days, so I’m yet to come to a firm conclusion about it, but can definitely say its an improvement over the previously installed Opal unit.

The ZENEC displays nav directions on the MFD, with a graphical representation (leg a left turn arrow) and a count down for distance to next turn. However its with roundabouts that things get weird. Roundabout directions on the ZENEC screen are displayed correctly (eg a left turn is shown along with a “1” to indicate 1st exit). However for the same roundabout, the MFD display will always show what the ZENEC displays +1 (ie for a left turn it shows a “2” to indicate the 2nd exit.

I managed to get a photo if it:

Note the 2 on the ZENEC and the 3 on the MFD. While this is a non-standard (only 3 exit) roundabout, the same phenomenon occurs on generic 4 spoke roundabouts.

My googling hasn't indicated that this is a common/known issue. Any ideas if this is fixable, or is it a fundamental communication/translation glitch between the ZENEC/VW?

Get in contact with Zenec maybe? Looks like a glitch/bug between iGo and the unit/canbus communication. They should be able to point you in the right directions in terms of a fix?

I finally was able to resolve this issue. Ultimate fix was a CANBUS interface update to ADP version 26.0.
The roundabout exit number on the ZENEC unit and the MFD now align! (Note: the MFD icon for a roundabout only displays a "straight thru" graphic, the exit number however updates as required)

I'm quite happy with the ZENEC unit - it integrates well with the MFD, satnav works well (tho no speed camera warnings), bluetooth is good, and good music functionality. Rev camera takes a little while to activate upon startup, but this issue doesn't appear to be isolated to the Zenec.
