rcd510 security code?

hi all..

going to pick up the tig this wkend and have requested the security code for the rcd510.

the dealer commented that vw do not have security codes for these devices. + never had an issue with his customers cars when the battery is flat

can any one confirm if this is correct?

Yes, that's correct, the car remembers the pin of the original radio. You only will have problem if you upgrade to RNS510 and want to sell your RCD510, then who ever buy it will need that PIN.

I would still get the code as you never know when you're going to need it and much better to have it than to go back years down the track asking for it.

The dealer should be able to get you these codes anyway.

Yeah, like Transporter said, you shouldn't have an issue with the original unit.

They should be able to get it for you though. I took my car in for a service and asked if they could give me my RCD510 code at the same time.

They said they'd look into it, and sure enough they provided it when I went to pick up the car.
