We have 2 x T5 Transporter (2012) vans fitted with the Zenec NC2010 head units as fitted by the dealer.
The theory of these units of what they offer is great and at a better price then the factory units for less money.
However our experience has not been as enjoyable as we like. In one of the vans the head unit failed on the GPS function on 2 occasions in the first 9 months and has the 3rd unit installed that is now working consistently.
The second van is not such a happy story with the head unit failing 4 times over the last 18 months. So so far we are on our 4th head unit and it is about to be replaced again. On each occasion this head unit fails in the touch screen. It has varied between lasting a few months to lasting only 3 days on the last occasion. The failure varies between the screen going black and the touch screen function not working.
The installer has been great working with us trying to help with the problem but I am at a loss as to why the units fail. On each occasion, the units have been returned the Zenec and bench tested and they claim the units work perfectly. But in our vans they do not.
I am starting to think there is some sort of compatibility issue between the vans and the Zenec units but I do not understand enough about CAN bus to solve it. Perhaps some sort of power spike.
Has anyone seen any similar issues on there VW that may give as some direction to try to solve the problem?
