Hi, is there anyway I can add the hand free service to my RNS310 and can I use the button on the steering wheel as well rather than up grading to RCD510
Thanks
I suggest all you'll need is a BT unit. I'd be looking to get one that is compatible with your MFD if you can - that way you'll get phone options in your display. If you have a 2009 Tig it's likely you have a red MFD(???)
Also have a look in the Audio and Electronics section of the forum as there's quite a bit of info on various BT units there.
What you need is a DDP compatible bluetooth unit to work with your red MFD. These are harder to come by these days as all the new BT units typically only support BAP protocol.
This is getting to complicated, i dont think non in Canberra can help me doing this thing and hooking up BT. Any of you can recomend anyone here in Canberra that can help me with this

Well there's a saying that goes "measure twice and cut once".
If you don't want to buy the wrong unit/cable, you'll need to do some investigation first.
There's a fair few 9w2 BT units for sale overseas - just make sure the cables are going to fit in the back of your unit and you should be fine. Otherwise there's also an interface box you can buy that allows you to use the newer BT units with the red MFD... but then this pushes up the price quite a bit - and only really necessary if you want additional features/support for newer phones.
You have to pull off a number of trims to run the microphone & cable which sits in the centre lights console in your roof liner. Also if you're going to put the BT unit under the drivers seat (VW standard spot), you'll also need to get the foam insert and pull apart the connector to run the cable.
You'll also need to recode your gateway to tell it has a BT/phone installed.
You can save some money by doing the install and finding someone with a VCDS cable to "tick the box" and add the option in. But if you're not the DIY type then I'd ask the dealer/independent workshop for a price.
