Hi FarQ,
Did you end up getting an answer to your question "AVC-6502 fit into a VW Bora Mk4?" I've got a 2003 4motion and I'd be interested too - at the right price. (I'm assuming the Volkswagen AVC is for Mk5 only)
Cheers,
David
OK guys i had a look at the demo unit on the weekend, i was very impressed by it to be honest. the satnav is just as good as any tomtom ive used before and the quality of dvd playback is pretty good, although not a feature i would use very often. I tested bluetooth to my N95 8Gb and also playback from USB and MP3 CD. the last 2 things didnt work to my pleasing im afraid to say, they work, but to me the primary use was to be able to plug in a USB stick with MP3's turn the car on and drive away with a random selection of tunes. on both USB and CD (and most likely DVD too) this opens up a folder structure (after a scan which can take 30 seconds odd on USB) and then plays the tracks in order, there is no MIX or random options that we could find, althought there is a software update at some stage to improve this). I dont have an Ipod but apparently the interface for that is on the money, it mirrors exactly what is on the screen as opposed to having to set up special play lists in itunes. Sound quality i didnt get to test as it is a demo unit in a briefcase with some small speakers but its got a 4x45w output which should keep most happy.
In short, the unit looks OEM VW, and if you want SATNAV and an Ipod integration with your VW then i can see no reason not to put this in, but for me, not owning an ipod and refusing to conform, i will wait until the software gets updated to allow for a better expereince when playing MP3 files from USB or CD. For me my last car had a JVC USB Headunit and it worked great with no need t adjust anything unless i wanted to skip tracks, that is the primary functionality i am after. I have satnav in my phone if i get lost and this for me was only going to be an added bonus if the rest of the features stacked up.
Definitely well worth looking at if you are in the market for satnav though.
any update on when the test car will have it fitted? keen to see it working in the car.
I dont think there will be a "Test Car" as such, given that they sell them for a few different makes and models of cars. I guess once someone bites the bullet and puts on in then we will get to see it.
Can get a pretty good feel for the unit as it is in the demo case.
Any auto electrician can do it. its pretty much plug and play for the most part. Has all the same connectors as the VW but there is a chance that it might need some custom wiring done.
Thats great to hear. Really does sound like a bit of a bargain. Fingers crossed the sound quality and bluetooth quality are there. Do you know if the existing parrot bluetooth could over ride the AVC bluetooth?
Also wondering if the unit would also fit a current shape S3. (As i'm pretty sure they are the exact same head unit - albeit possessing few different shaped buttons.
Im not sure about the parrot, it seems to me its more of an all in one system, it does have aux inputs maybe able to utilise them. I saw the demo unit last week in glen waverley, so its worth a run out to try the features for yourself.
I'm interested to know if anyone knows where to have a look at this system somewhere in Sydney Metro.
I currently have the Blaupunkt DVD Sat Nav unit that was factory fitted in my late 2007 Passat Wagon, but it deosn't seem to have half of the features of this AVC-9000 unit.
Suggestions/Advice appreciated

Steve, I was under the impression that you actually knew the guy - hence the personal demonstration you had.....
If its simply a matter of shooting out there to check the unit out then that's great! Will arrange for it.
Yeah, the contact details are in the top post. From what i can gather they are intending to produce a youtube video of its features. so that people not local can get an idea of what its like.
