RNS510 battery drain software fix

Hello All, Sorry if this question has been asked before but l have searched the forums and l still cannot find an answer to my questions.
l am intending to install a RNS510 Model 1TO 035 680C, HW H06, SW 2720 into a 2006 golf with a canbus Version No SW: 1K0 907 530 H HW: 1K0 907 951.
l have learned that this will cause the dreaded battery drain problem because l have an old canbus, l have also been told l can update my RNS510 to a later firmware version (EG 4020)and then run a small program called 1200_gw_all and this will fix the battery drain problem.
My questions are has anyone here tried it and does it work, are there any bad side effects or am l better of getting an up to date canbus, also l am intending to purchase a OEM VW GOLF V BADGE REAR VIEW CAMERA and will it work with my old canbus or am l asking to much.

Love to be able to help with a definitive answer mate, but I went the CANBUS route. Also not sure if the older H revision CAN gateway that you currently have will support the use of a reversing camera. Might be just as easy to install and code a more recent CAN gateway.

I can upgrade your canbus to the latest software as well as any VW dealer can when they connect your car to the VAS. The upgrade is faster than replacing and coding the new canbus in.
