Handsfree on the steering wheel

Guys, sorry if this is posted previously but hopeless at finding anything.

I have an iphone 5 and just got a Jan '13 roc.

I also have the RNS510 head unit.

For the life of me I cannot get the voice control to work - the wand looking icon under the phone symbol on the steering wheel.

When i press it the music will cut out but I get no beep or any indication of life. Doesnt react to any voice commands either.

Is this right? or I am screwing it up?

To answer/hang up calls, you press the middle button with the phone symbol on it. The button with the microphone symbol is the general mute button.

Try pressing and holding the answer button (central one on the left side of the wheel) till the unit beeps.
that is the one I use with a Zenec unit and iPhone 4.

if the microphone button on the steering wheel mutes the radio then your car does not have voice control installed.... not many do have it.. usually only top spec models with RNS510 from factory.....VDUB...

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems it doesn't do anything then. I thought I had the top spec model, dyna audio upgrade and all but must be something else required. Certain my dealer said it could do it at pick up, should have tested it! Funny how a lot of cars a lot less have the feature. My old BMW from 7 years ago even had it! At least the roc is much more fun to drive.

voice control is just a toy really...soon get bored of trying to make it work and then forget you have it installed! lol... sure the paddle shift will keep you entertained!!..VDUB..
