Climate control on mk6 display

Hey guys,

I was in another mk6 gti the other day which was newer than my my10, and I noticed that the climate control is displayed on the touchscreen. Would this be a higher model touchscreen or is there an update that I can do to make this happen on mine also?

all mk6's with a genuine touch screen head unit should display the climate info.

It should show it from factory... i know in the user settings of the head unit you can change the amount of time in seconds that it displays it for. Im not sure but may be you can turn it off completely? Have a look in "set up" on the head unit...... VDUB ..

Can I get this on my MY08 passat? My mate has a 09CC and his has it, he has an RNS510 , so is it a firmware thing or in the RNS510?
I think I have the latest firmware which I got from here and about to install the latest V6 maps, from here also. Or is it controled by the climatronic unit itself?

Thanks for the info, checked the settings an hour ago, I didn't see anything obvious but maybe I was having a mans look. I'll have another look tomorrow.

I believe it is a genuine vw item, as it shows a vw splash screen on start up and the previous owner didn't strike me as the modding type.

Take a quick pic of the headunit and the the climatronic. Should be able to deduce whats going on from that

As far as I know, the 2008 Passat is still on the same platform as the mk5 golf which means that the climate control information is not accessible in the CAN-Bus, so it's notrelated to your head unit.

Well you have the proper climate control and that looks like a genuine RCD510, but it's not the Bosch units we usually see here. There were other manufactures for the RCD510 so perhaps this model needs VCDS coding to show the climate info?

I'm in Port Macquarie, I haven't noticed any people from here. Might have to pester a Syd or Newy person next time I'm down that way.
