  • Building with my bOrAAAinng

    Hey All,

Well it has been a while since my last build-up, with my previous build being a VY commodore that I never got around to competing with it as it was a company car. I had only had the gear in a month when I had to change the car again! Plus someone got their doors deadened for free!! Ha-ha!

So, I will try and be a bit more attentative to recording what I am doing with my Bora as it is my own car...

As far as mechanical modifications go...
Castrol Silver 4.1 brake fluid (Reduced the brake fade enough to allow me a decent run up Reefton)
    Redline MT-90 Gearbox oil
    Royal-Purple Engine oil
Whiteline Blade adjustable swaybar set to Hard (Big difference!)

    Soon...
Haldex controller upgrade (AWD system reacts faster or Pre-empts slippage thus more AWD than a front centric AWD)
    O.Z. Ultraleggera 18's
And maybe a more sprightly exhaust.

    Now for the Audio install...

My source is a JVC-SH909R, old school headunit but allows direct input's via the front and back (Mainly for the IPOD) And it seems to have decent SQ to !

I Ran 0 gauge Audison Connect from the front, back. Have fitted an Orion XTR1400 (Huge Amp, but a good option if I ever consider another G5 at 4ohms in parallel they will see 1400W RMS !) to run my Boston G5 at 8ohms providing about 800w RMS and an Audison LRX 2.500 for my Morel Elate's 2 ways seeing about 225W RMS. They are mounted in the spare wheel well with an Audison Fused distro block for + and -. I have also fused the battery terminal. Power is running down the right side and signal cable on the left.

I have sound-deadened the driver's door outer and inner skin with Stinger SD and have fitted a spacer for my Morel Woofer. I have drilled out the standard honey comb grille and am hoping to get the woofer flush and use the Morel Grille. It is not turning out to be as easy as I first thought! The Ring in the inner skin and the door card are not set correctly. Anyone have an idea on what I can do to get around this? Do I need to build pods?

By the same token, the tweeters will not fit in the factory tweeter placements. I was thinking maybe in the Aircon holes or where do we think would be the best place to mount them? I would prefer stock or not to stand outish but the best SQ possible.

I am planning to put the X-overs underneath each seat respectively as there is not too much electronics i.e. seat motors that will play hazard that I can think of.

So to sum up I still have to do the following...

    SD left door inner/outer
Replace left door window reg clips
    Build spacer/pod left door
    drille out left door grille
    Thread speaker wire for Woofer
Fit X-over's and wire up under seats
Reconnect the audison to the distro-block (Disconnected)
    Sound deaden the Boot
Build sub box enclosure either into side of boot or in the middle (Currently prefab)
If design allows fit Boston Resonator for sub
Move Power cables further along so as flush to floor or fit second battery (Odyssey)
Currently I have no spare but meh who needs them! Maybe a puncture repair kit as I already have an air compressor that I keep with me.
Build IPOD dock into dash somehow...

    At a later stage...
    Carputer installation

That's it for now, will post some pictures up soon.
