  • Connecting RNS510 to existing RVC

Hi guys and gals - firstly apologies if this has been asked before, but my searching couldn't find anything specifically on this....

I'm in the market for a new Tiguan, and just had a question about the RVC Plus option vs the full sat nav pack....

I was wondering if there was anything additional included in the sat nav package over the RVC (Other than the obvious addition of the RNS510). I was hoping to order the new Tig with just the RVC option, and either add the RNS510 I installed in my current Tig or buy a new RNS510 unit seperately and put my existing one in to the other VW (R32).

I guess the same question applies to the optical parking sensors that come standard in the new model, (I'm looking at the 155TSI) as well as the bluetooth. I'm just curious if there's any advantage to buying the whole sat nav pack - or if everything will play together nicely if I add an RNS510 unit myself. .

Any help/info would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers!

FWIW have added RNS510, RVC, Bluetooth and shark fin antenna all afterwards myself.
So what you plan to do is possible.

Worse case brand new rns510 and RVC can be bought overseas for under $1,500.

But obviously need to install yourself or pay someone to do it.

Main benefit is factory wiring. A RNS510 put in from factory (not dealer) will have the microphone connected up for voice activation and will have a proper GPS aerial connected up on the roof for much better signal (see my sig for when I connected up my Polo's antenna).

It's very hard to find an installer that does Park Sensors though, most don't want to risk it or charge a bundle. If you want this then factory factory factory.

Difference between factory and retrofit BT is pretty much nothing, expect for maybe losing a screw or something during install. Phone book dialing by voice is possible but the coding can be tricky on some cars.

So it's pretty moot considering you already own a RNS510.
