  • Mdi / rns 510 and mtp protocol

Silly question, and but ever since moving to newer model android phones (s3 and note 2) I'm unable to use the Mdi as it doesn't recognise mtp (older android used usb mass storage). Now I've seen fixes to the phone ie rooting it and then dl a usb mass storage application, and but rather than rooting my phone, is there a way to update vw software to accommodate this new type of protocol?
    Cheers
    Darko.

There are sometimes firmware updates available for the MDI available via the myGTI website (forget exact url, google will help)

Other option could be to retrofit the latest bluetooth unit and stream music wirelessly. I upgraded from the S2 to S3 4G and I've got a few BT issues now, no idea what's new on this phone, and it looks like I have to update my BT unit in the car. (carsystems.pl)

Anyone know how to check version / firmware on the Mdi? Gti forum has about 5.
My Mdi was fitted last year but is an 09 CC (fitted by a dealer).
